Terrysavage one word... AWESOME
I got this working..
using UDPCI :
This will eliminate the TTL to Eth adapter.. Thanks again Terry.
We got ser2net working with UDP, Sinamics
I will implement this to UAVcast very soon. Im just have to get this new site up and running 100% first
We dont need the TTL adapter anymore.. Sinamics
I will deploy a new version of UAVcast later this evening that will support ser2net Sinamics
This will allow you to connect the TX / RX from your flight controller directly ti Raspberry GPIO tx rx without the need of TTL to Ethernet adapter.
I just want to let you know and give you a heads up.
Terrysavage Sinamics Well i finally got it working.
hey I have one technical question related ser2net and uavmatrix packuage installation.
Currently I have still TTL2ETH logic converter but in the next 2,3 weeks I would like to put together alternative configuration base on the cheapest pixhawak and pi0w. Hope this will works also.
In the case of Pi0w I would like to use direct GPIO connection and latest ser2net packuage. UAVmatrix is out of date now and includes old ser2net version. I will update it manual but would like to know if should I install ser2net from any location or follow UAVmatrix folder structure. Does serv2net install always in the same folder or should I copy it to "packages" folder and run installation from threre ? I would like to avoid software duplication or problems with UAVmatrix scripts. Please advice how to update ser2net in the most easy way.
You can install ser2net anywhere using Terrysavage instructions. ser2net will be availible globaly on your PI.
But as described here Sinamics, ser2net 3.3 does not work properly. You only get 33% signal strength.
Sinamics yes i know but pi0w does not have network port for ttl2net adapter
Btw there is 3.4 version avilable, maybe it works better
mocart yes i know but pi0w does not have network port for ttl2net adapter
ahh. ok. You can give it a try.
mocart Btw there is 3.4 version avilable, maybe it works better
I think i tested v3.4 last time, but it behaves the same.
@mocart if you dont get the v3.3 working, you could try TCP instead of UDP. TCP works flawlessly with ser2net. Just a tip.
Sinamics TCP works flawlessly
Tell me one more please , for TCP connection should I put drone IP address in connection field ?
I do not have public IP on drone side.
mocart for TCP connection should I put drone IP address in connection field ?
Yes. You type in the address for your drone in Mission Planner.
mocart I do not have public IP on drone side.
You need a public IP when using TCP, it simply wont work without.
Sinamics Yep. this is reason why I can run only UDP. I do not have 2 sim cards with public IP.
I hope it will run finally on UDP , if not I will be trying to go with VPN option and 2 internal IP addresses. We will see
With version 3.4 I have values between 25- 36 % ( 15 cm long cable ). is this any paremeter in Mission Planner only? Do you know how to check it e.g in qround control ?
mocart yep, this is really annoying. It would be nice to get ser2net working 100% without the need of TTL adapter. I guess we should ask the developer of ser2net for advices
Sinamics It would be nice to get ser2net working 100%
Its very strage. Yesterday I sent communication thru open vpn. Signal is little better ( about 40% ) but this is still not fine. More than 50% packets were lost again. This is very strange because when I'm testing it inside my home network signal do not exceed 38%. How we can raise this problem to developers? Should we say that if we are using ser2net on various pi machines we are loosing more than 50% of packages in the case of udp or someting else??
Did someone of you raise ticket on ser2net page ? https://sourceforge.net/p/ser2net/bugs/?source=navbar
If not Lets try to open ticket there.
There are more 50% of lost packets between Raspberry GPIO and arduino based boards when UDP protocol is enabled. In the case of TCP all packets are sent correctly between devices without loses. Please correct UDP part.
Do you think we should add something to this ticket ?
Additionaly we can add link to this topic also.
update : I found open discussion: https://sourceforge.net/p/ser2net/discussion/90083/thread/340f6c28/ maybe we can add this issuse in this topic. I did it and if you find a time please add also you comments.
